LIGHTER INSTRUCTIONS: Re-filling and adjusting your lighter is much easier with a XIKAR MTX Multi-tool!Filling and re-filling lighters: • Lighter contains inflammable gas under pressure. Handlecarefully. • Ensure that flame is extinguished before attempting to fill. • Never attempt to ignite lighter while refilling. • Read butane canister warning labels. • Only refill lighter in a well-ventilated area. • Hold lighter away from face and clothing while filling lighter. • Never fill lighter around any heat source, sparks or flame. • Triple refined premium butane is highly recommended, aslower quality butane has been known to clog lighters. • Release all tank pressure by pressing on inlet valve with asmall screwdriver or XIKAR MTX Cigar Multi Tool bleeder. • KEEP OUT OF REACH FROM CHILDREN. 1) Set flame adjustment to lowest setting (-). 2) Hold lighter in upside down position and insert butane tank tip directly on the fuel. Press down firmly for about 10 seconds. 3) Before igniting lighter, wait 2-4 minutes. This will allow for excess butane to evaporate and butane gas to reach room temperature. 4) Turn flame adjuster to lower setting and increase flame to desired height. IGNITING THE LIGHTER: • A simple push on the ignition switch simultaneously opens the lid andignites a powerful jet flame over 2,000 degrees. This flame can be nearly invisible in bright light, so proper care is recommended XIKAR EX lighters are the only windproof flames suitable for flight. • Take care not to touch the top of the lighter after ignition. • Do not use in any situation that would require a continuous flame formore than 10 seconds to avoid heat buildup. • The best position for igniting another object is usually 3/4 to 1”above the top of the lighter. EXTINGUISHING THE FLAME: • Releasing pressure from the side of the lighter immediately closesthe lid and extinguishes the flame by stopping fuel flow. • If flame continues, the flame level is set too high and should beadjusted by turning the adjustment wheel on the bottom of the lighter towards the (-) position. ADJUSTING FLAME LEVEL: • Turn the black fuel adjustment wheel on the bottom of the lightertowards the (+) mark to increase the flame and turn the wheel towards the (-) to decrease the flame to achieve a desired height. For igniting cigars, the best position is usually 3/4” to 1” above the top of the lighter. HIGH ALTITUDE INSTRUCTIONS: • While triple refined premium fuel is recommended for all altitudes, the use of premium fuel in high altitudes is essential. Keep the fuel tank as full as possible at all times. • After refilling lighter and before igniting, allow for fuel temperatureto equal mechanical temperature by holding the lighter in your hand for 1-2 minutes. • To prevent freezing, keep lighter in an inside pocket. • To improve ignition and flame height, turn the adjustment wheel tothe (-) setting to allow more oxygen in the combustions chamber. This compensates for the lack of oxygen at higher altitudes. At lower altitudes, turn adjustment wheel towards the (+) setting to increase fuel flow. • If necessary, ignite the lighter slowly and carefully to follow the gas, spark, flame sequence. After hearing gas flowing, depress the trigger to ignite a flame. Do not repeatedly and quickly attempt to ignite a flame. A slow, deliberate motion increases your chances of ignition. • When not in use, keep adjustment setting at medium and adjust (+)and (-) as needed. |
